State Performance Standards Database

The State Performance Standards Database aligns Lexile® and Quantile® measures with state proficiency standards for those states whose assessments are linked with the Lexile and or Quantile Frameworks and use the State Performance Standards Database. This database is updated annually as information regarding state testing dates and performance standards becomes available. When the State Performance Standards Database is used in conjunction with the MetaMetrics Forecasting REST API, student performance can be compared with the performance standards on linked high-stakes summative assessments.

The State Performance Standards Database is delivered as an Excel file with five tabs:

  • Cut Scores Summary
  • Cut Scores
  • Extrap-Interp* Summary
  • Extrap-Interp* Cut Scores
  • Change History Log

*Extrapolated-Interpolated grade-level performance standards

It is often desirable to estimate student performance relative to state performance standards for students who may not be required to take a state summative assessment in a given year. For example, while high school students are typically not required to take state summative assessments every year, it is useful to know if students would be on track to demonstrate proficiency as defined by the state standards. To support the use of the MetaMetrics Forecasting REST API across all grades, MetaMetrics mathematically extends the cut scores, or performance standards, to grade levels that are not required to take summative assessments, thus creating a comprehensive set of performance standards. The extrapolated and interpolated cut scores can then be used to estimate student performance in relation to state performance standards.
