Compare student Lexile and Quantile measures to peer performance by grade and season to add meaningful context to results.
About Lexile and Quantile Norms
Lexile® and Quantile® measures tell you a student's current ability level, but a measure on its own doesn't reveal how that performance compares to other students. Norms close this gap by showing how a student's performance compares with other students using the same scale, giving educators, administrators, and families the context they need to make better-informed decisions.
For Technical Implementers
Lexile® and Quantile® norms are delivered as separate Excel workbooks, with one file for Lexile reading norms and one file for Quantile mathematics norms. These files contain the normative values needed to incorporate peer comparison insights into partner systems and reporting.

Lexile® and Quantile® norms are delivered as separate Excel workbooks, with one file for Lexile reading norms and one file for Quantile mathematics norms. These files contain the normative values needed to incorporate peer comparison insights into partner systems and reporting.

Accessing the Files

The norms files are delivered through Partner Success. Contact your Partner Success representative to request the files, which you can then incorporate and use as needed for your own purposes. For contact information, see the Partner Success Team.

2026 Update

The Lexile and Quantile norms were updated in July 2026. This latest version preserves the same file structure, format, and overall organization as the prior version, minimizing the need for implementation changes. The normative values have been refreshed to reflect the updated reference population, while the overall layout remains consistent to support a smooth transition.

Separate Grade 11 and Grade 12 Norms

One enhancement in this release is that Grades 11 and 12 now have separate norms, whereas the previous version combined these grades into a single Grade 11/12 norm. This change was made because the updated norming dataset included sufficient representation of students in each grade to support separate norms.

Note: Partners who previously referenced the combined Grade 11/12 norms should update their implementation to reference the separate Grade 11 and Grade 12 norms.
